Spaceport America The Sierra County Economic Development Organization(SCEDO) is calling home those of you who have moved away to find other opportunities for employment to support yourself and your families.

Our combination of climate, lakes, river, mountains and hot springs is unequalled anywhere in the world -but maybe you had leave for a better paying job.

Well, the time is just ahead when the $500M of actual and planned capital spending will begin to energize (and overwhelm) the economy of Sierra County like few areas in the entire Country.

Spaceport America, our world famous commercial aerospace facility is about to be occupied by its anchor tenant; Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic Inc. With that will come an even greater interest by the fast growing commercial aerospace companies who are leading the way in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) and Low Earth Orbit(LOE) rocket research and development. Witness SpaceX's recent successful first-time-ever commercial docking with the International Space Station(ISS). Engineers, technicians, chemists and other aerospace industry personnel will be needed to support any growth at the world's only purpose built commercial aerospace facility; Spaceport America.

Equally important to the economy of Sierra County is the development of the Copper Flat Mine; a subsidiary of THEMAC Resources Group. The Copper Flat Mine is a mining project with known reserves of copper, gold and molybdenum. The mine is currently involved in a Bureau of Land Management(BLM) Environmental Impact Study and if permitted, is on track to begin construction in 2013. If your training and experience is in Construction and Skilled Trades the time is now to become involved in this employment opportunity.
