Almost every town and village in Sierra County hosts some kind of unique fair, festival or event annually. Some celebrate heritage, showcase championship golf, or just an excuse to bring people together. In addition, numerous civic organizations encourage residents to get involved in the community, there are senior's and children’s programs, athletics and arts, all appealing to a variety of interests.

Truth or Consequences is the county seat of Sierra County, New Mexico. The population is 7,021 according to US Census 2009 estimates. It is commonly known within New Mexico as T or C. Named a Top 10 Coolest Town by Budget Travel in 2008. T or C sits atop a huge pool of 100+ degree mineral waters and has several spas and public baths.

The City of Elephant Butte was incorporated in 1998. The 2009 estimated population is 1,418. Businesses include a 18-hole golf course, a number of inns, motels, restaurants, RV parks, convenience stores, real estate offices, boat storage and repair facilities, marinas, churches and a bank.

This quaint and thriving village provides municipal services to its estimated population of 513. There are several businesses near the I-25 freeway exit (75) at Williamsburg. Businesses include RV parks, several convenience stores with gasoline and diesel and an antique business.
