Truth or Consequences Municipal Schools District is the only school system in Sierra County. Student enrollment is approximately 1,550 students from 3 years old through 12th grade. There is a total of six schools and an administration office. Hot Springs High School is a North Central Accredited learning site that has just moved into a new building on North Pershing Street. Advanced placement classes are available at the high school for its students. With many extra curricular activities offered to students. Special Education and Ancillary Services are provided for all eligible students at all school locations. Gifted programs are also available for eligible students at all sites as well.

Appletree is a non-profit education center for the children of Sierra County. Providing child development and after school activities as well.

The Gardner Learning Center serves as a regional learning center for adult education. The extended university staff works with local industry, government agencies and K-12 educational systems to design and present degree and certificate programs focused on workforce development. Distance education and flexible programming is also available. Through the Extended University, Western New Mexico University participates in the New Mexico Virtual College. This statewide collaboration of colleges and universities provides an internet-based catalog of fully online classes and programs.
